Majority at the moment are Merlin. But delving into OUAT.

Does it already exist? Or should I write something for it?

Thoughts?

Of all the things Emma had seen this was by far the funniest and strangest one to date.

Watching a grown man scramble over rocks, away from mermaids was funny by itself. But the look of abject terror on the man’s face was absolutely priceless, and Emma could not stop giggling.

“Should we help him?” Snow asked quietly her own lips fighting a smile.

“No.” Regina smirked at the man’s misfortune. It was the least he deserved. Greg Mendell slid down a rock closer to the clawing mermaids, all wanting a piece of him, and not in a good way.

“He can help us find Tamara and Henry, we need him alive.” David decreed with a sigh. He was really enjoying this though.

Emma’s eyes shot over to him along the railing and David fought hard to keep the smile from his eyes, but ultimately failed and joined Emma in laughing at the mans plight.

Emma Swan specifically didn’t like boats that travelled through magical portals. And this point was definitely made as she spent most of her time leaning over the railing of said boat reliving every bad food choice she’d ever made.

But there was a silver lining. She wasn’t the only one hanging over the railing.

“Eyes to yourself, Ms Swan.” Regina whispered tiredly as she leant against the railing that was the only thing keeping her standing up right. Emma chuckled and immediately regretted it.

“Serves you right.” Regina quipped with her eyes closed and a smug smile on her face.

“Shut up.” Came Emma’s eloquent reply. Wiping her mouth Emma slid to sit on the deck grateful that her body had finally finished its torture. “Why was it only us?”

Regina glanced around the ship, Charming and Snow kept their distance to talk with Gold, their eyes flickering to their daughter with concern. Hook stood tall at the helm keeping his eyes focused on their target, Neverland.

“Must be the magic.” Regina finally answered.

“Huh?”

“We must have exhausted ourselves with the destruction of the trigger. Then jumping into a portal… our bodies couldn’t handle it, I suppose.

“I hate you.” Emma grumbled. Regina shot the woman a hurtful look before seeing the blonde childishly poking her stomach with a frown. Regina couldn’t help the laughter that bubbled up.

“What’s so funny?”

Looking at the pouting blonde Regina couldn’t stop the genuine smile on her face, “That’s what Henry used to do when he got sick.”

“Really?” Emma asked with a hint of pride.

“Acting like a four year old is not something to be proud of Ms Swan.”

“No,” Emma agreed sensibly before shooting the brunette a soft smile. “But acting like our son is.”

“Any excuse for childish behaviour I suppose.” Regina rolled her eyes good-naturedly, purposefully ignoring the word the blonde had said in passing. It was amazing how one word could change her outlook on everything Henry had previously done. All his actions now seemed to either mimic Emma Swan or herself, and it didn’t disgust her. Quite the opposite in fact…

“Are you okay now?” Snow asked, pulling Regina from her thoughts. Emma nodded still sitting on the deck and looked at Regina expectantly. “Regina?”

“Me?” Regina asked shocked that Snow White was asking after her well-being.

“You know anyone else called Regina?” Emma smirked. Casting a glance at Snow, Regina was surprised to note that by the other woman’s expression she wasn’t the only one wanting to smack Emma upside the head. Although Snow would probably hit her daughter with affection and not nearly as hard as Regina would.

“I’m fine.” Regina replied stiffly. “Thank you.” She tacked on quickly, watching Snow’s expression soften – ridiculously – before it hardened as the tapping of a cane signified Gold’s approach.

“So how did you manage to stop the trigger?” He asked eyeing Regina.

“Magic.” She replied firmly, not wanting to tell him anything more. He searched her face before turning to Emma.

“Oh.” He said after a tense moment. “And whose magic?”

“Mine.” Regina snapped, holding a hand behind her silently asking Emma to stay quiet, while shooting a firm look at Snow, who nodded in understanding.

“Oh, we both know that’s not true. If we’re going to save young Henry then we need to be honest with each other.”

“Sadly that’s not a trait we posses, Rumple.” Regina spoke, turning back to the Queen she once was, the woman who had terrified millions with a flick of her wrist. A woman… she no longer was.

Slipping into the persona was difficult, she hadn’t worn this mask in so long, it was loose, it was cracked, and it was ruined. And judging by Gold’s acrid look he knew it too. But with a final restrained glare he turned and made his way below deck.

“Why didn’t you tell him?”

“I have my reasons.” Regina answered Snow, turning her back on them to stare at the water lapping against the hull.

“And they are?” Emma asked, pushing herself up from the ground., swaying slightly before standing tall with her mothers help.

Regina couldn’t stop the smirk, “Good ones.”

“Thank god for that. I was worried for a second.” Emma snapped sarcastically nudging the woman with her elbow as she leant back on the railing, watching the ship while Regina watched the sea.

Opposites in everyway… but one.

“You really okay?” Emma broke the silence, her eyes straying to the brunette.

“I’m okay.” Regina sighed.

“Okay, I may be an idiot in some respects and sometimes you can really screw with my superpower but that was a blatant lie.” Emma pointed out keeping her eyes away to give the brunette a moment to compose herself and decide where this conversation was headed.

“I was tortured. They tried to rip my magic from my body. I used up all the energy I had left to try and stop the trigger. Then my son gets kidnapped and travelling through a portal on a boat of all things just happens to be the icing on the cake.”

Regina kept her eyes on the water as she waited for Emma to say something. Maybe she would argue with the ‘he’s my son’ line they’d both been incredibly fond of. But once again Emma Swan surprised her.

“Pretty shitty cake, huh?” Emma deadpanned. Unable to stop herself Regina laughed. And Emma joined in.

Their laughter may have been slightly hysterical, but they didn’t care.

Quietening down, Emma had to wipe her eyes from the tears that had formed. She chanced a glance at Regina and saw her doing the same, although with much more subtlety.

“Feeling better?”

“I think so.”

“Good.” Emma stated.

“Is it?” Regina asked tentatively.

“Yeah,” Emma laid a hand on Regina’s forearm resting on the railing. “It’s okay to feel better. We can’t save him if we feel like shit.”

Regina agreed sadly, “Can we do it?”

“Regina, we just did the impossible. We saved the whole freaking town! Trust me. I think we can do just about anything.”

“Just about?” Regina was curious as to where the other woman would go with this, and if she new Emma as well as she thought, then it wouldn’t be anything she would ever think of.

“Just about.” Emma repeated seductively with a wink.

Sometimes Regina hated being right.

—

Don’t know if I should continue or leave it as is. David, Snow and Henry all looked up at her with hope in their eyes, it cut her deep to know she would have to snuff it out.

“Where’s my mom?” Henry finally asked.

“Saving us.” Emma replied flatly still not sure what had just occurred between them. “She said to tell you that it’s not too late for her to do the right thing.”

The silence surrounding their group was frustratingly tense, “she’s not coming back, is she?” Henry whispered brokenly unable to meet her eyes. Emma quickly bundled him up in a tight hug.

“Not if I have anything to say about it.” Emma whispered in his ear, enjoying his arms wrapping around her before she pushed away and stepped back the way she had come.

“Emma, wha-” Snow started watching her daughter moving away from them.

“Go, Emma.” David said his eyes shining with pride at his daughter. Emma sent a firm nod back before turning and running back to the woman who was going to sacrifice herself for a chance to do the right thing.

“EMMA!” Snows yell was the last thing she heard as she sprinted back to Regina. Coming to a halt again she watched the older woman shaking with the power she tried to keep at bay. Regina’s eyes shot up and locked with Emma’s. Emma watched as they softened for a moment before the usual hardened glare returned.

“Get out of here, Emma!” She hissed. Stubbornly Emma stayed where she was.

“I can’t hold this much longer. You have to go.” Regina practically begged forcing more of herself into the magic trying to hold the trigger at bay.

“No.” Emma whispered forcefully. “I’m not letting you do this alone.” Regina closed her eyes as she tried to keep her mind focused on her magic, she couldn’t be distracted by someone as annoyingly good as Emma Swan, not when the survival of everyone rested on her shoulders.

Regina’s eyes snapped open as warm hands held hers. Regina stared into Emma’s eyes, the light from the trigger turning them a fluorescent blue before they began to glow gold. With wide eyes both woman’s eyes turned toward the trigger, watching as it grew smaller as the light from their hands glowed brighter, changing from blue to gold.

They watched in awe until the trigger vanished. They were frozen. There was no blinding light, no massive explosion, there was nothing. Nothing to signify the end of the hardest moment in Regina’s life. And frankly she was kind of pissed.

But meeting Emma’s eyes and squeezing their hands she knew that they didn’t need a big dramatic moment. Because this - knowing she would be able to see her son grow up, and not having to raise him alone - it was enough.

It was more than enough. But as she saw Emma leaning in closer, she knew that this was finally her happy ending.

True Magic | FanFiction

True Magic | FanFiction:
Based on 2x22 promo. “She did all she could yet it wouldn’t be enough.
“No, you say ‘how would you like a glass of the best apple cider you ever tasted?’” Regina stared hard at the blonde who began shuffling her feet self-consciously under that scrutinising gaze. It seemed Emma Swan was full of surprises – most surrounding her mental prowess today - knowing exactly what she’d said that began this crazy journey.

“And why would I do that?” Regina asked softly, wondering where the blonde was going with this and why she was playing along.

Chapter 3

Chapter update

Emma Swan was a pain, of that much Regina was absolutely certain. But it wasn’t that painful being in her presence, mind you company was almost non-existent for Regina these days. She would welcome any interaction, apart from that with Snow or her idiotic Prince.

Chapter 2

Renamed the story from “Understanding” to “Surprises” cause I felt it fit better.

New story: Understanding

Regina faltered for a moment. But one moment was long enough for Emma to recognise the emotions flashing across Regina’s face before before they were wiped away.

<![endif]--> “Emma, Henry, we should go.” Snow begged quietly, not wishing to stay any longer than necessary. The day had taken a surprising toll on her, and her family. Emma chanced a glance at Henry sitting quietly beside her, his hand squeezing hers as tight as possible, his eye not moving from the front of the room.

“You go. We’ll follow later.” Emma whispered, speaking straight to David who nodded and gently pulled Snow from the building. The sound of the doors closing behind them signalling a finality Emma wished wasn’t so. The room lapsed into a hopeless silence.

“Emma,” Henry whispered as tears fell from his eyes with renewed vigour.

“Yeah?” She asked just as quietly, wondering how on earth she could help him through this.

“I didn’t tell her I loved her.” Emma felt her own tears build up before pushing them down knowing she had to be strong for Henry. Nothing would be accomplished if they were both crying wrecks.

“She knew, Henry.”

“Did she?” He asked brokenly, finally pulling his eyes away to look up at her desperately. Emma pulled him close and held him tight, his arms winding around her waist as he cried into her shirt.

“She never stopped loving you, kid.” She told him, kissing the top of his head so he knew she was here for him, but it wasn’t enough. He needed both of them.

“But I said she was evil! I told her I hated her!” Henry cried out, pulling away from Emma and wiping his eyes.

“All kids say that to their parents. Doesn’t mean it’s true.” Emma reassured him, smoothing his hair down as he calmed.

Henry’s whisper seemed to reverberate around the room, “I didn’t get to say goodbye.”

“Then tell her now, kid.”

“She won’t know.” Henry grumbled hugging his arms around his chest.

“A lot of strange things have happened in this town. Go. I’ll be right here.” Emma pushed him down the aisle and watched his hesitant strides toward the altar. Emma sat on the chair and turned her eyes to the window as Henry’s soft, cracking tone floated through the empty space.

“Emma!” The blonde shot up from her seat at the hopeful tone in her son’s voice. “Maybe we can bring her back!” Henry grinned at her as she slowed her approach.

“Henry, this isn’t a curse.” Emma stated softly as she knelt before the boy.

“You don’t know that! I could kiss her and make her better. I love her, Emma!” Henry pleaded with an expression that broke Emma’s heart anew.

“You tried that, kid.” Emma reminded him cupping his check and sending him a sad smile. “I’m sorry.”

Henry’s eyes searched her face with desperation before tears poured down his distraught face. Shrugging off Emma’s hands he ran to the opposite end of the room and sat in the corner, head upon his knees and shoulders shaking.

Emma rose from her position and finally looked toward the woman who had caused all of this. Stepping up to the altar she rested her hands on the edge and cast her eyes upon the pale face.

Her usually passionately determined brown eyes were closed to the world, and an uncommon soft smile turned her lips.

“Come on, Regina. Stop playing about. He needs you.” Emma pleaded to the woman softly, knowing her words could do nothing but maybe in a town full of magic a miracle could be possible.

“I’m sorry for all that I did. I know you were trying and you didn’t deserve what they did to you. Wake up. I know your stubborn and probably getting a kick out of this, but enough, okay? Just… enough.”

Emma closed her eyes as the tears she’d held back finally fell. She didn’t know why this hurt so much. She’d lost people throughout her life yet she never expected this. Regina had always seemed so full of life, so full of emotion that she hid until they came head-to-head in a heated battle of wits.

Maybe it was just seeing Henry so heart-broken that struck her, yet as much as she tried to convince herself that was so, she knew it wasn’t.

“She told me what happened, you know. Snow did. About Daniel. The shit you went through.” Emma rambled on. It seemed the only time she could connect with the woman was when she was unable to make any sarcastic remarks about her own crappy childhood. The thought caused her to chuckle cheerlessly.

“More alike than we knew, huh?” Emma asked rhetorically. “I broke my promise to you though. I told you after the fire that I would save you, time after time after time because that’s what good people did. But I didn’t. Guess I’m not as good as everyone thinks. Some Saviour I am.”

Emma flinched when a hand fell on hers looking down at the small hand she shot a glance at her son who stood stoically beside her. “You tried, though.” Henry said, not looking at Emma but at the unmoving woman who had raised him for the majority of his life.

Emma sighed, “Not hard enough, kid.”

Henry reached his other hand out and placed it over Regina’s clasped ones resting on her stomach. “I’ll miss you, mom.”

“We both will.” Emma corrected him, sending him a smile that he returned.

Henry grabbed Regina’s right hand and held it tightly between his own. Emma watched as Henry turned the hand over and traced the lines on the hands. It took Emma a moment to realise that he was reliving every memory he’d had, every hug, every touch, and every word, which Regina had been apart of.

Emma gently extracted Regina’s hand from Henry’s grasp. “I wanna go.” The boy whispered tears threatening to fall again. “I’ll be outside.” He stated before he nearly ran from the room. Emma watched the doors close behind him before turning back to the lifeless woman.

“I’ll try, Regina. I’ll do the best I can.” Emma whispered leaning over to place her hand back in the position it was. Her hands gently brushed a lock of brown hair off the woman’s face. “I hope you know he loves you, Regina.”

Emma bent forward and placed a soft kiss on the brunette’s forehead.

And I do too.

Emma found Henry outside, just like he’d said, looking up at the sky. It was clear, sunny, and unusually bright for Maine. “You okay, kid?” Emma asked standing beside him and looking up at the sky as well.

“No.” He answered softly before turning and burying himself into her side.

“Me too.”
